Platinum selling singer Mica Paris will star as Sylvia in the upcoming UK tour of Elvis musical Love Me Tender, which opens in Manchester on 5 June.

Written by Memphis the Musical writer Joe DiPietro, the show is "inspired" by the King of Rock 'n' Roll, and includes more than 25 of his songs.

Retitled for its UK premiere, Love Me Tender premiered on Broadway under the title All Shook Up.

Mica Paris released her debut album So Good in 1988, and has had subsequent albums and singles including Black Angel, "Stay" and "Carefree". Her stage credits include The Vagina Monologues and Sweet Lorraine.

Producer Adam Spiegel said of the casting: "I’m a huge fan of Mica Paris and as soon as I heard her audition I knew she was perfect for the role of Sylvia. Her incredible, powerful voice and presence does true justice to the greatest hits of the one and only King of Rock and Roll, Elvis Presley."

Full casting is to be announced.
