Tonic Celebrates Interview: Emma Rice: 'I've always been a bit subversive'

Lucy Kerbel chats with the Shakespeare’s Globe artistic director about her career and work in our new interview series

Artistic director of Shakespeare's Globe Emma Rice talks to Lucy Kerbel as part of our new long-form interview series in association with Tonic Theatre.

The Tonic Celebrates Interview is a snapshot of the Tonic Celebrates events run by Tonic Theatre, where the company brings together inspiring women in theatre to talk about their careers, work and successes.

The second in the live events took place at the Sam Wanamaker Playhouse at the Globe and featured a panel including Rice, playwright Tanika Gupta and founders of dramatic violence company RC Annie Rachel C Bown-Williams and Ruth Cooper-Brown.

Tonic is an organisation which supports the arts industries to achieve greater gender equality, and its Tonic Celebrates events can be attended by the public. For more information, head to their website.

The first Tonic Celebrates event was held at the Ambassador's Theatre and featured Jessica Swale, Indhu Rubasingham and Paule Constable.
