Theresa May is to be incorporated into the run of Peter Morgan's play The Audience at Nuffield Southampton.

The show follows Queen Elizabeth II and the conversations she has with all her Prime Ministers over the course of 65 years. Samuel Hodges' production will now feature the late addition of Theresa May's premiership and resignation.

The show, which is currently in previews, opens at Nuffield Southampton Theatres on 30 May and runs until 22 June.

Hodges said: "It's clearly an electric time to be telling this story, one which effectively charts the Queen's response and responsibility in moments of great political crisis. We don't know what the Queen thinks of Theresa May, but it felt urgent for our production to respond in some way to what is happening at this very moment."

Lizzie Hopley plays Margaret Thatcher, Bobo Macdonald, Theresa May and the Detective, while Paul Kemp plays all the rest of the Prime Ministers and Faye Castelow plays the Queen.
