Adapted from the 1900 play by Russian playwright Anton Chekhov in which three sisters live in a tiny, remote town, dominated by an army base and the strict social codes of the day. Knuckledown’s version is set in a back garden in Wigan where three sisters pine for the bright lights of the city of Manchester and wait for their lives to begin. They pass the time as only sisters can – with sarcastic comments, TikTok dances and bitching about other people.
