Doctor Marigold

A travelling salesman adopts a young deaf girl in Dickens’ short story. Doctor Marigold is not a doctor at all but a cheap-jack – a fast talking market seller. Doctor is merely his name. Set in 1864, the story follows this travelling salesman who adopts a young deaf and girl whom he names after his recently deceased daughter Sophie.
