When Valentine moves from Verona to Milan, he leaves behind his best friend, Proteus, who cannot bear to be parted from his beloved, Julia. But at the command of his father Proteus does travel to Milan, and swiftly forgets Julia when he meets Valentine’s beloved, Silvia. Can their loyalty to each other survive this test, or will new loyalties drive out the old?
