Iceland Dance Company – Black Marrow

About the Show

Iceland Dance Company (IDC) is the national dance company of Iceland. Established in 1973, IDC is an independent public institution responsible for developing, creating and nurturing contemporary dance and choreography in Iceland.

Black Marrow interrogates the apocalyptic bond between humans and nature. Dancers pound the stage in a united trance to depict a world where instincts have been industrialised and the body transforms, mutates, exults and fights for its survival. To haunting music by Ben Frost, the dancers take the shape of fossils, industrial machines, pagan gods and carefree golden youth. Exploring our tumultuous relationship with the planet, Black Marrow asks how we can save it – and ourselves.
