Ian Smith is an award-winning comedian, as seen on BBC3’s ‘Sweat the Small Stuff’, BBC2 sitcom ‘Popatron’, Sky’s ‘Officially Special’ and ‘BBC Three at the Fringe’.
Last October, Ian had to postpone his wedding because his fiancee was unwell. This is a show about trying to help her anxiety, and his own, and what it’s like to plan a major event that never happens. It’s very funny though. Playing Scrabble was one of the things that would help Ian’s fianc?e relax – so, in a show of misguided commitment, he entered a professional Scrabble tournament. This led to Ian going toe to toe (or, tile to tile) with some of the best Scrabble players in the UK, despite not being 100% sure of some of the rules – and when you’re playing for love, losing is not an option. On top of all that, Ian also went on holiday to Chernobyl with his brother. Yes, they both glow in the dark now, but what an experience!
