The show has been a viral sensation

The cult Korean musical The Last Man will receive its UK premiere this summer.
Set in the aftermath of a mysterious virus that has devastated humanity, the piece follows a lone survivor who seals himself inside bunker B-103 as cities fall silent and the undead roam outside. Directed by Seoul-based filmmaker and theatre-maker Daljung Kim, this new adaptation reimagines the cult Korean solo musical for English-speaking audiences.
The musical will play at Southwark Playhouse Elephant from Friday 8 May to Saturday 6 June 2026, with a press night on Wednesday 13 May at 7pm. It is directed by Daljung Kim with book and lyrics by Jishik Kim, music by Seungyeon Kwon and dramaturgy by Jethro Compton.
Originally developed as a web musical in Korea, The Last Man has won multiple awards and built a devoted following through runs in Seoul and China. This newly reworked version marks the musical’s third major staging and its first production in the UK.
Daljung Kim’s recent work has focused on developing new Korean musicals including Mahogony and Gloomy Sunday, alongside Korean productions of An Iliad, Hedwig and the Angry Inch and The Spitfire Grill. Compton is an award-winning director, designer and writer whose credits include The Bunker Trilogy, The Capone Trilogy and the multi-award-winning The Curious Case of Benjamin Button.
Casting and further creative team details are to be announced. Line producing and general management is by Gary Beestone Associates.
