The Donmar Warehouse has announced casting for Jean Genet’s The Maids in a new translation by Kip Williams, who also directs.

Yerin Ha, Phia Saban and Lydia Wilson will lead the world premiere production, which runs from 13 October to 29 November 2025.

This staging marks Williams’ Donmar debut following his Olivier and Tony Award-winning reimagining of The Picture of Dorian Gray, and comes ahead of his adaptation of Dracula, starring Cynthia Erivo, which opens at the Noël Coward Theatre in 2026.

The creative team for The Maids includes Rosanna Vize (set design), Marg Horwell (costume design), Jon Clark (lighting design), Dan Balfour (sound design), DJ Walde (composer) and Zakk Hein (video design).

Genet’s play explores identity, obsession and desire, as two maids ritualistically role-play their mistress’ murder until fantasy and reality become indistinguishable.

Tickets for The Maids are on sale now via the Donmar Warehouse website.
