World premieres of Ghosts and City of Glass in new HOME season

Manchester's HOME has announced its new season, which features two world premieres to be staged in the coming months.
Ghosts is a new version of Ibsen's play that touches on family history, inheritance and incest, written by David Watson. Directed by Polly Findlay, the show will feature acclaimed actress Niamh Cusack, seen most recently in Unfaithful at Found111.
Cusack plays the role of widow Helen Alving alongside Ken Nwosu as Oswald in the piece, which will run from 18 November to 3 December.
The season also boasts another world premiere stage adaptation, City of Glass which will run between 4 and 18 March next year. People, Places and Things playwright Duncan Macmillan adapts the play from Paul Auster's novel and the graphic novel by Paul Karasik and David Mazzucchelli. Published in 1986, City of Glass is part of the New York Trilogy by Auster, which features a detective fiction writer becoming a private detective.
City of Glass is being produced by 59 Productions, HOME and the Lyric Hammersmith and will be directed by Leo Warner.
This autumn, HOME take on two new associate companies – 1927 and Mighty Heart Theatre – and actor Katie West will become a HOME associate artist. The theatre also opens a new space, Theatre 2, which features flexible seating, staging and lighting.
Elsewhere, Orbit Festival will run between 29 September and 15 October and will showcase 11 productions from the Edinburgh Fringe and beyond. The shows include Two Man Show, Lemons Lemons Lemons Lemons Lemons and Women's Hour.
Berlin Now is a series of performances taking place over a long weekend where the T2 space will be transformed with a cabaret atmosphere. Berlin Now presents four Berlin-based artists who stage live art, theatre, music, film and new writing.

I’m delighted we are collaborating with 59 Productions on City of Glass, an original stage adaptation of Paul Auster’s unforgettable novel by the extremely talented playwright Duncan Macmillan."
