It’s the end of the month, which means it’s time for us to delve into the data!
Here at WhatsOnStage, we don’t just report on what’s happening on stage and backstage, we are creating an online encyclopedia of all of your favourite performers and creatives! Stage Names is your go-to place for the who’s who of the West End beyond.
We’re continuing to work hard behind the scenes, adding new names daily.
In alphabetical order, here’s who was trending in August.

Like a bat out of hell, Glenn Adamson is back on trend! On the road with his legendary portrayal of Strat in the Jim Steinman and Meat Loaf ‘arena-style’ rock musical, Adamson is leaving audiences wanting even more.

The principal cast that brought The Hunchback of Notre Dame to the West End for the very first time did strong numbers on Stage Names. They played the concert production across two weekends, and you can see them in action here.

Rehearsals have been underway throughout August for The Lady from the Sea, where Isobel Akuwudike will play Hilda opposite Alicia Vikander and Andrew Lincoln at the Bridge Theatre in Simon Stone’s take on Henrik Ibsen. Akuwudike is a lead in Netflix’s hottest new tense thriller, Hostage.

Taking on the role of Salome Otterbourne, Glynis Barber is going on a trip down the River Nile! Set on a cruise under the Egyptian sun, Poirot investigates yet another murder in Agatha Christie’s Death on the Nile.

For the first time, a real-life couple will be “Willkommen”-ed to the Kit Kat Club! Original Hadestown Broadway stars Reeve Carney and Eva Noblezada fell in love on stage and will return to London together as the Emcee and Sally Bowles, respectively. We heard excellent things about Noblezada in the New York production, and the two caused quite a stir when they were in the West End earlier this year!

Our District 12 tributes have topped the list this month as the world premiere of The Hunger Games stage adaptation draws closer. Director Matthew Dunster says that the piece finds the “young voice of Katniss Everdeen and puts her front and centre,” so we can’t wait to see what newcomer Mia Carragher does with the character, alongside Euan Garrett as the much-loved Peeta Mellark.

For its ninth consecutive year, A Christmas Carol is returning to the Old Vic. It’s Paul Hilton who will be Bah-Humbug’ing his way around London this coming Christmas, in Jack Thorne and Matthew Warchus’ much-loved festive treat.

“I’m right and you’re wrong, I’m big and you’re small, and there’s nothing you can do about it.” Richard Hurst will be spitting this famous line at the maggots attending the Matilda The Musical tour when he takes on the role of Miss Trunchbull.

The residents of Windsor Gardens were revealed ahead of the world premiere of Paddington The Musical. Among them were lots of stage favourites as well as some newcomers, including Timi Akinyosade, Amy Booth-Steel, Tarinn Callender, Delilah Bennett-Cardy, Adrian Der Gregorian, Tom Edden, Brenda Edwards, Amy Ellen Richardson, Victoria Hamilton-Barritt, Teddy Kempner, and Bonnie Langford. It’s going to be pawsitively special – especially when we find out how the main bear himself will take to the stage…

From “The Sound of the Underground” to way down under the ground! The Girls Aloud singer will be the latest to play Persephone in the West End staging of Hadestown. It’s great to see Nicola Roberts back on stage following the short-lived revival of City of Angels.
