Sweeney Todd will be directed by the Rep’s artistic director Joe Murphy and feature design by Elin Steele, with musical supervision by John Rigby and casting by Abby Galvin.
Set to star will be Ramin Karimloo, taking on the role of the tortured Barber. Joining him will be Meow Meow, taking on the role of Mrs Lovett. She said today: “I can’t wait to hurl myself into the dubious deliciousness and dangerous world of Sweeney Todd with Joe Murphy, Ramin Karimloo and the gang at Birmingham Rep. Heady days ahead!”
Murphy added: “We are absolutely delighted to welcome Meow to the cast. Mrs Lovett demands a performer with impeccable comic timing, musical command, and a taste for the macabre — and she delivers all of that in spades. Her genius brings a thrilling theatrical edge to Sweeney Todd and our audiences are in for something truly special.”
The revival will play across the summer from 4 July to 9 August 2026.
Further casting and creative team are to be confirmed.
