Where are they now? 5 former WhatsOnStage Award winners

With the nominations shortlist being announced today, we delved into the #WOSAwards archives to see what some of our previous winners are up to now.

James Corden

James won Best Actor in a Play in 2012 for his performance in Richard Bean's comedy One Man, Two Guvnors. He also won the Tony Award in the same year for the play's Broadway transfer. While he hasn't returned to the stage, Corden's kept himself busy including starring as the Baker in the film adaptation of Stephen Sondheim's Into the Woods, and his invasion of the US includes hosting The Late Late Show and recent Tony Awards. He has also just been announced as the host for next year's Grammy Awards.

Tom Hiddleston

Before hitting the big time, a young Hiddleston won Best Actor in a Play in 2009 for the Donmar's productions of Othello and Ivanov. Apart from a short relationship with Taylor Swift, he hasn't done much since… We jest, he's obviously gone on to become one of the most sought after actors of his generation with career highlights including playing Loki in the hugely successful Thor and Avengers franchise, and his critically acclaimed turn in the BBC's The Night Manager. He's also hotly tipped to be the next James Bond.

Patina Miller

Miller won Best Actress in a Musical for her Deloris Van Cartier in Sister Act, a role she also went on to play on Broadway. Since then she's gone on to win a Tony Award for her performance in Pippin in 2013, played Commander Paylor in The Hunger Games: Mocking Jay, and is a regular on the CBS drama Madam Secretary.

Tom Scutt

Designer Scutt was awarded Best Set Design in 2013 for his work on The Lion, the Witch & the Wardrobe at Kensington Gardens and Constellations at the Royal Court Upstairs. Constellations went on to be a hit around the country and on the other side of the pond. His highly acclaimed work since has included Medea at the National Theatre, Jesus Christ Superstar at Regent's Park Open Air Theatre and King Charles III at the Almeida, which later transferred to Broadway and earned him a Tony Award nomination.

Leanne Jones

Jones did the double in 2008 and took home the WhatsOnStage Award and Olivier Award for Best Actress in a Musical when she played Tracy Turnblad in the original London cast of Hairspray. In 2010 she appeared in the cast of Tick, Tick… Boom! at the Union Theatre and the UK tour of The Naked Truth. She was a contestant on the third series of the BBC's talent show The Voice in 2014, and this year can be found treading the boards in Jack and the Beanstalk in Gravesend.
