Tony Awards 2018 winners announced – Harry Potter and The Band's Visit win big

The winners of the 2018 Tony Awards were announced last night and the transfers of Harry Potter and the Cursed Child and Angels in America ensured British exports were well represented.

The stage instalment of JK Rowling's Potter series won six awards including Best Director for John Tiffany and Best Play. The National Theatre production of Angels in America won three including Best Play Revival and acting gongs for Andrew Garfield and Nathan Lane. Glenda Jackson was crowned Best Actress in a Play for her performance in Three Tall Women.

Elsewhere the big winners of the night were The Band's Visit, which took home ten awards including Best Musical.
