Nominations for the 2018 Tony Awards have been announced today, with British talent scoring big. The National Theatre production of Angels in Ameria broke the record for the most Tony Award nominations for a play in Broadway history.

Harry Potter and the Cursed Child, Angels In America, Farinelli and the King, Travesties and The Children were all recognised in several categories. Angels in America garnered 11 nominations – tying with musicals The Band's Visit and Carousel – beating Harry Potter by one. Travesties got four nominations, just shy of Farinelli and the King which got five.

Angels was also nominated in Best Original Score Written for the Theatre, Scenic Design of a Play and Costume Design of a Play. Harry Potter and Farinelli and the King were also nominated for Scenic Design of a Play and Costume Design of a Play.
