Producers have announced that West End musical The Commitments is to close on Sunday 1 November 2015.

The London run will be followed by a UK and Ireland tour in 2017; further details will be announced soon.

Since opening in October 2013, The Commitments – adapted for the stage by Booker Prize-winning Roddy Doyle from his original best-selling novel – has played more than 1000 shows.

Directed by Jamie Lloyd, the show features classic soul songs including "I Heard It Through The Grapevine", "Knock On Wood", "Try A Little Tenderness" and of course, "Mustang Sally".

Producer Phil McIntyre said: "We’ve had a great run at the Palace Theatre and we now look forward to bringing the people’s musical to people across the UK & Ireland with our 2017 tour."
