Mac’s show has been a festive treat for a number of years – and now comes to the UK

Exclusive: Taylor Mac will bring festive show Holiday Sauce to Soho Theatre Walthamstow this Christmas.
Produced and co-presented with Pomegranate Arts, the holiday extravaganza will play live in-person in the UK for the first time, with tickets on sale today.
Mac is a MacArthur Fellow, Pulitzer Prize finalist, Tony Award nominee and recipient of the International Ibsen Award, known for ambitious works including A 24-Decade History of Popular Music, Hir, Bark of Millions, Gary: A Sequel to Titus Andronicus and The Lily’s Revenge.
Blending music, film, burlesque and what Taylor Mac describes as “random acts of fabulousness”, Holiday Sauce explores the festive season “in all its dysfunctional glory”, offering an alternative to traditional Christmas entertainment.
Created by Mac, the production reframes classic festive songs through a political lens. It features costumes by long-time collaborator Machine Dazzle and a live band led by music director Matt Ray.
Steve Lock, Soho Theatre’s head of comedy, said: “We first saw the remarkable Taylor Mac perform at the Edinburgh Festival Fringe in 2006 and presented Taylor’s London debut at Soho Theatre the following year.
“Almost 20 years later, with Taylor having blossomed into one of the most acclaimed and exciting theatre artists in the world, we are bringing Holiday Sauce to Soho Theatre Walthamstow – a brilliant and very Soho way to celebrate the end of the year.”
Performances will be running from 17 to 23 December 2026 at the north London venue.
Alongside Holiday Sauce, Mac will also perform an abridged version of A 24-Decade History of Popular Music with the Philharmonia Orchestra at London’s Royal Festival Hall on 26 November 2026.
