London already plays host to an annual ‘gorilla run’ in aid of conservation, and a host of ‘santa runs’ every Christmas, but now there’s a new kid on the wacky charity run block. The producers of the new Sister Act musical, which opens at the Palladium in June (See News, 7 Nov 2008) have teamed up with children’s charity Barnardos to organise a four-mile charity nun run.

The event involves, as you’ve probably guessed, dressing up in a nun’s outfit and running a course around central London. It takes place on 3 May, starting and finishing at Dunster Court, and taking in a host of landmarks including Tower Bridge, the Tate Modern and St. Paul’s Cathedral.

And for those worried about sourcing the appropriate clothing, fear not – the entry fee of £20 includes a nun costume. Which is a relief, as no-one likes bad habits.
