Artistic director Indhu Rubasingham has announced her autumn/winter season
Sam Shepard's contemporary classic True West will run at the Tricycle Theatre later this year, as part of the Kilburn venue's newly announced season.
Directed by Phillip Breen, the production was first seen last year at Glasgow Citizens' Theatre. The cast will feature Alex Ferns (Lee) and Eugene O'Hare (Austin), who both reprise their roles.
The play centres on two brothers – one a rising screenwriter, the other a drop-out – who are forced to collaborate on a film project. But with mistrust and jealousy bubbling under the surface and the heat of a Californian night melting away their inhibitions, their own flaws threaten to get in the way.
True West runs at the Tricycle from 9 September to 4 October 2014 (previews from 4 September).
It's followed by artistic director Indhu Rubasingham's UK premiere production of Marcus Gardley's The House That Will Not Stand, which runs from 17 October to 22 November 2014 (previews from 9 October).
The play, first seen in the States earlier this year, is set in 1836 New Orleans, where black Creole women entered into marriages with rich white men. But when Beartrice's partner mysteriously dies, the foundations of freedom she has built for herself and their three unwed daughters begin to crumble.
Next up is the London transfer of Mark Thomas' new solo show Cuckooed (1-13 December), which premieres at the this year's Edinbugh Fringe and tells the "true story of how Britain biggest arms manufacturer came to spy on a comedian."
And rounding off the season is a Christmas run of Complicite's hit show Lionboy (17 December-10 January), inspired by Zizou Corder's bestselling novels.
"I'm thrilled to announce the next season ahead," said Rubasingham, who took the Tricycle reins from Nicolas Kent two years ago. "It's a season that reflects a local theatre with an international vision."
Currently at the Tricycle, Adam Bock's The Colby Sisters of Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania opens on 25 June (previews from 19 June).
