The winners of the Critics' Circle Awards have accepted their honours at a ceremony at the Prince of Wales Theatre in London.

Glenda Jackson, Billie Piper and Harry Potter director John Tiffany were among those collecting their awards.

In an interview with WhatsOnStage, Tiffany said he "didn't want to be the person that made Harry Potter boring."

Piper, who won the Best Actress award, is nominated for Best Actress in a Play at this year's WhatsOnStage Awards for her role in Yerma, which will return to the Young Vic in July. Stephen Dillane won Best Actor for Faith Healer at the Donmar Warehouse.

Jackson won the award for Best Shakespearean Performance, while Anthony Boyle won Most Promising Newcomer – other than a playwright – and Charlene James won Most Promising Playwright for Cuttin' It.

Playwright Annie Baker took Best New Play for The Flick, which ran at the National last April, while Christine Jones was named Best Designer for Harry Potter and the Cursed Child.
