Sinatra star Joel Harper-Jackson has revealed he will be stepping away from the ongoing West End production due to an injury.

Harper-Jackson, whose credits include Standing at the Sky’s Edge and Kinky Boots, said in a social media statement today: “I’m absolutely heartbroken to share that I’ve sustained a calf muscle injury during the show, which means I’ll sadly be taking some time away from Sinatra The Musical while I recover.

“I’m having the absolute time of my life playing Frank Sinatra at the Aldwych Theatre. It’s truly one of the greatest privileges of my career, and something I’ve waited a very long time for. So, as you can imagine, I’m gutted.

“Fortunately, I’m surrounded by the most fantastic care team, and in my absence the wonderful Sam Brown will be covering the role whilst I recover. The show is in very safe hands! A huge thanks to the entire company, creative team and producers for their kindness and ongoing support.

“For now, my focus is on making a full recovery. I’m already making great progress and I’m determined to be back on that stage as soon as I’m fit and able!“

Harper-Jackson’s return date has not been revealed.

The production, which runs at the Aldwych Theatre after a preview season at the Birmingham Rep in 2023, charts the life of Frank Sinatra, tracing his early rise in the 1940s, his personal relationships and the challenges that shaped his career.

Set on New Year’s Eve 1942, the musical follows Sinatra as he prepares to walk onto the stage of the Paramount Theatre in New York, a moment that propels him into national fame.

The score includes more than 20 Sinatra songs such as “That’s Life”, “One for My Baby”, “The Best Is Yet To Come” and “Come Fly With Me”.
