Paines Plough 2019 season announced

New writing and touring company Paines Plough has announced its 2019 season.
In the Roundabout, the company's pop up touring theatre, there will be world premieres of plays by Charley Miles, Nathan Bryon and Daf James. The productions will open at Theatr Clwyd before touring to the Edinburgh Festival Fringe and venues throughout the UK.
The productions, full details of which will be announced in due course, will be directed by Stef O'Driscoll.
Zia Ahmed's new play I Wanna Be Yours will premiere as part of the season in a co-production with Tamasha. The piece will head out on a national tour in a show directed by Anna Himali Howard and it tells of a love story between Ella from Yorkshire and Haseeb from London. Dates for the tour are yet to be announced.
Turbines, by Sarah McDonald-Hughes, will be staged in a production produced by Paines Plough, Royal Welsh College of Music and Drama and the Gate Theatre. Emily Ling Williams directs the piece, which is McDonald-Hughes' return to Paines Plough following her How to Be a Kid.
Ifeyinwa Frederick has been commissioned by the company and Soho Theatre to write a new play with the details announced in due course. Elsewhere, Anna Jordan's Pop Music returns for a live online broadcast. The piece is part of the celebration of Come To Where I'm From where 160 playwrights were invited to pen plays about where they call home. The pieces then become available on the Come To Where I'm From smartphone app. Live sessions will take place in Salisbury this year on 20 February with Wiltshire writers including Veronica Dewan, Harry Blake, Barney Norris and Hanna Treadaway.
Sam Steiner's play You Stupid Darkness! runs at the Theatre Royal Plymouth from 7 to 23 February.
Paines Plough's artistic directors James Grieve and George Perrin said: "This programme epitomises what Paines Plough has always been about for us: urgent new plays from original new voices featuring top new
talent on wide-ranging tours the length and breadth of the UK."
It was announced last month that the artistic directors would be stepping down in the summer.
