Jane Eyre will play at Bristol Old Vic in two parts from 20 February (previews from 10 February) to 26 March 2014. Directed by Sally Cookson (Peter Pan BOV), designed by Michael Vale and with music composed by Cookson's long term collaborator Benji Bower, an ensemble cast of ten actors and musicians will appear in both parts of the production, titled respectively Jane Eyre Part One The Orphan Child Released and Jane Eyre Part Two The Impossible Love.

Cookson’s “epic production” will “explore themes of individual freedom, accountability, the stigma of mental illness and uses an original score and live music, the two parts will draw on dark fairy tales and folk tradition to create a vivid and compelling journey.”

Madeleine Worrall (Peter Pan BOV, Three Sisters West End, Cinderella Old Vic) will play Jane with RSC regular Felix Hayes as Mr Rochester. Bertha will be played by classically trained singer Melanie Marshall who appeared in the original cast of Tony award winning production Fela! Alongside these will be Craig Edwards, Laura Elphinstone, Simone Saunders and Maggie Tagney with musicians Benji Bower, Will Bower and Phil King making up the rest of the ensemble.
