Lights will dim across London theatres tonight in memory of theatre producer Duncan C Weldon.

Before performances begin, the lights will be dimmed for one minute as a tribute to the producer, whose career spanned almost 60 years.

Weldon, who died on Wednesday aged 77, started as a photographer at the RSC, before going on to produce some of the starriest productions on stages across the UK alongside business partner Paul Elliott. For over 20 years he was artistic director at Theatre Royal Haymarket, and also served as director of Chichester Festival Theatre.

Duncan and Elliott received a special Olivier Award last year for their contributions to theatre across the UK.

Tributes for Weldon poured in on social media.
