Set in 18th-century England, the musical is based on the story of William Critchard and Richard Arnold in Redcliffe, Bristol. It follows a man from humble beginnings who meets a visiting sailor. Their relationship leads them to question their lives and the world around them.

During the run, there will be a series of post-show Q&A sessions, with different guests from across the theatre industry leading discussions after selected performances. The first, on 2 June, will explore the evolution of the score, hosted by Alex Wood of the WhatsOnStage Podcast, with musical supervisor Katy Richardson, associate musical director and orchestrator Ben Tomalin, and writer-composer Gage.
