Heathers the Musical completes New York casting and creative team

Heathers the Musical has revealed full casting for its New York run this summer.

The WhatsOnStage Award-winning musical features a book, music and lyrics by Kevin Murphy and Laurence O’Keefe, and is based on the 1989 cult film of the same name, starring Winona Ryder and Christian Slater.

It previously ran at the Other Palace and in the West End in 2018 and 2021. The show then ran from 2021 to 2023 back at the Other Palace, with three tours also taking place and another West End run in 2024.

Set to star in the show off-Broadway are Lorna Courtney (& Juliet) as Veronica and Casey Likes (Warriors) as JD.

Joining them are McKenzie Kurtz as Heather Chandler, Olivia Hardy as Heather Duke and Elizabeth Teeter as Heather McNamara.

Also in the cast will be Kerry Butler as Ms Fleming/Veronica’s Mom, Erin Morton as Martha Dunnstock, Xavier McKinnon as Ram Sweeney, and Cade Ostermeyer as Kurt Kelly.

Ben Davis will play Ram’s Dad/Big Bud Dean/Coach Ripper, while Cameron Loyal will play Kurt’s Dad/Veronica’s Dad/Principal Gowan.

The cast also features Sara Al-Bazali (Standby Veronica Sawyer, Heather Chandler), Emma Benson (Swing), James Caleb Grice (Beleaguered Geek/Officer McCord), Louis Griffin (Swing), Devin Lewis (Hipster Dork), Kiara Michelle Lee (Young Republicanette), Brian Martin (Preppy Stud/Officer Milner), Lav Raman (Swing), Syd Sider (Stoner Chick), and Cecilia Trippiedi (New Wave Party Girl).

Ostermeyer and Sider were both discovered at the Heathers open casting call.

Heathers will start performances on 22 June 2025 at New World Stages, Stage I (340 West 50th Street), prior to a July opening night.

Directed by Andy Fickman (who also directs the UK version), a new creative team has been assembled. It includes choreographer Gary Lloyd, additional choreography by Stephanie Klemons, set and costume design by David Shields, lighting design by Ben Cracknell, and sound design by Dan Samson. The music supervisor is Will Joy, the music director is Mona Seyed-Bolorforosh, the associate director is Taylor Haven Holt, the fight director is Lisa Connell and the intimacy coordinator is Rebecca Reaney.

The associate lighting designer is Colleen Doherty, the co-costume designer is Siena Zoë Allen, the associate sound designer is Germán Martinez, assistant costume designer is Amanda Roberge.

Production stage manager is Bess Marie Glorioso, the assistant stage managers are Katherine Shea and Eszter Zador. Meanwhile, general management is by Pemberley Productions, casting is by The Telsey Office, Rachel Hoffman, and Jimmy Larkin.
