Hairspray the Musical to tour in 2020

Hairspray the Musical is heading out on a UK tour.

The show will tour to Manchester, Bradford, Blackpool, Northampton, Aylesbury, Birmingham, Glasgow, Liverpool, Malvern and Brighton with two further cities to be announced soon.

The show, which previously toured in 2015-16 and in 2017-18, is directed by Paul Kerryson, choreographed by Drew McOnie, with lighting from Philip Gladwell and sound from Ben Harrison. Marc Shaiman and Scott Wittman's piece is set in Baltimore in 1962, where Tracy Turnblad wants to dance her way onto national TV.

The musical is based on the 1988 film of the same name which starred Divine and Ricki Lake. The musical originally opened in 2002 on Broadway and won eight Tony Awards. Further details of venues, dates and on-sale dates will be announced in due course.
