Evita with Rachel Zegler announces Broadway casting with returning West End stars

Jamie Lloyd’s production of Andrew Lloyd Webber and Tim Rice’s Evita, which ran at the London Palladium from June to September 2025, is to transfer to Broadway – and the wider company has been revealed.

Rachel Zegler will reprise her WhatsOnStage and Olivier Award-winning role as Eva Perón, joined by her co-stars from the London production, with Olivier and WhatsOnStage Award nominee Diego Rodriguez as Che and James Olivas making his Broadway debut as Juan Perón.

Bella Brown, who played The Mistress and was an alternate Eva Perón at the London Palladium, will also transfer to Broadway. She received a WhatsOnStage Award nomination for her performance. The Broadway cast will also feature Ángel Lozada as Agustín Magaldi.

The ensemble will comprise Giuseppe Bausilio, Mely Berdion, Brandon Borkowsky, Ayla Ciccone-Burton, Grace Conrad, Christian Jesús Galvis, Tommy Gedrich, Sydney Jones, Natasha Leaver, Maggie Likcani, Mireia Mambo, Sebastian Martinez, Justice Moore, Pepe Muñoz, Julio Rey, Ken San Jose, Victor Carrillo Tracey, Damani Van Rensalier and J’Kobe Wallace.

The swings are Alexis Hasbrouck, AK Naderer, Regine Sophia, Francisco Thurston, Bryce Valle and Michael Bryan Wang.

Brown will perform as Eva Perón at certain performances during the Broadway run, with the full performance schedule available ahead of booking. Final casting for The Child and the full creative team for the Broadway production will be announced later.

The show will now run at the Winter Garden Theatre, beginning preview performances beginning on Saturday 27 February 2027 with a Thursday 25 March 2027 opening night.

One of the production’s central staging elements saw Zegler perform “Don’t Cry for Me Argentina” live from the Palladium’s exterior balcony to crowds gathered in the street below. Details of how the number will be staged for Broadway have not been confirmed, though this will not be replicated.

Evita last appeared on Broadway in 2012, in a revival starring Elena Roger and Ricky Martin. A concert staging at New York City Center in 2019, directed by Sammi Cannold, did not lead to a full Broadway run.

Zegler will not appear at the following performances: Tuesday 13 April 2027, Tuesday 20 April 2027, Tuesday 27 April 2027, Tuesday 11 May 2027, Tuesday 25 May 2027, Wednesday matinee 2 June 2027, Wednesday matinee 9 June 2027, Tuesday 22 June 2027, 9 August through 15 August 2027 and 25 October through 31 October 2027

Starting Tuesday 6 July 2027, through to the end of the year, Zegler will not perform the role on Tuesdays with some holiday exceptions on the weeks of Election Day, Thanksgiving, Christmas, and New Years.
