The former Royal Ballet dancer Doreen Well, aka the Marchioness of Londonderry, will appear in a new dance review this summer at the Arts Theatre in London’s West End.
Hotel Follies is a full-length show directed by dancer Christopher Marney who also performs. It portrays a slightly run-down 1940s hotel with all its glamorous guests that Marney portrays as artistes hungry for success.
The show includes a new interpretation of Moira Shearer’s solo from The Red Shoes, a pas de six for men set to La Bayadère, plus a little-seen work from Matthew Bourne, best known for his all-male swan version of Swan Lake. Other pieces will be set to the music of Stephen Sondheim, Cole Porter and Edith Piaf.
As well as Doreen Wells, dancers include guests from Rambert Dance Company, Les Ballets Trockadero de Monte Carlo, and Northern Ballet Theatre.
