Initial casting has been announced for Kate Hewitt’s production of Frost/Nixon, which receives its regional premiere at Sheffield Crucible next year.

Jonathan Hyde (Julius Caesar, Crucible) and Daniel Rigby (Twelfth Night, National Theatre) will play Richard Nixon and David Frost in Peter Morgan's award-winning play, with further casting to be announced in the new year.

Following the Watergate scandal in 1974, Nixon became the only US President in history to resign from office. Morgan's play – which premiered at the Donmar Warehouse in 2006 and was later adapted into a feature film – focuses on Nixon's post-Watergate interviews with chat show host Frost in 1977.

The production has design by Ben Stones, lighting by Charles Balfour, composition and sound designer by George Dennis, video design by Andrzej Goulding and movement direction
by Lizzi Gee.

Frost/Nixon runs at the Sheffield Crucible from 26 February to 17 March, with previews from 21 February.
