
Casting has been revealed for Cloud 9 at the National Theatre, from 2 November 2026 to 13 January 2027, with a press performance on 10 November.
Caryl Churchill’s play marks her return to the National Theatre for the first time since 2019, and will be directed by Dominic Cooke. The 1979-two-act play satirises British imperialism and explores the evolution of sexual politics.
Casting includes Rebecca Humphries, Eloka Ivo, Tom Mothersdale, Charlotte Ritchie, Ellen Robertson, Stuart Thompson and Sam Troughton.
The creative team features Miriam Buether (set design), Samuel Wyer (costume design), Jessica Hung Han Yun (lighting design), Donato Wharton (sound design), casting director Naomi Downham, dialect coach Penny Dyer, voice coach Shereen Ibrahim and staff director Max Harrison, with further casting to be announced.
The news comes as part of a major new season announcement from the National.
