Rodgers & Hammerstein’s musical will open in August
Rodgers & Hammerstein's 1947 musical Allegro is to finally receive its European premiere when it opens at Southwark Playhouse this summer.
Set in 1905 in a small Midwestern town, Allegro chronicles nearly four decades in the life of average Joe, Joseph Taylor Jr. from childhood to marriage altar, and the lessons he learns along the way.
From the team behind recent hits including Grey Gardens and Grand Hotel, Thom Southerland directs and Danielle Tarento produces. Cast and full creative team to be announced.
Allegro will run for a six-week season at Southwark Playhouse from 5 August – 10 September.
