The egg theatre, Bath, are bringing to life the much-loved classic, Alice Through The Looking Glass, in a new stage production for family audiences over the Christmas period. West End actress, and ex-EastEnder, Louise Plowright will star as the Red Queen alongside Alexis Terry as Alice.
On her quest to become a queen Alice encounters many memorable characters, including the Red Queen, talking flowers, Humpty Dumpty and Tweedledum and Tweedledee. But in the giant chessboard she is following, is she going forwards or backwards and who is she really?
Louise Plowright played the lead role of Donna in Mamma Mia in the West End for four years, and is also well-known for other TV roles, including Michelle in Footballers’ Wives. She recently won the 2010 TMA Award for Best Supporting Performance in a Musical for Irving Berlin’s White Christmas The Musical at the Theatre Royal Plymouth.
The cast also includes John Biddle and Kate Copeland (en masse theatre company), Paul Mundell (A Christmas Carol and Alice Through The Looking Glass, Tobacco Factory) and Sorcha Finch-Murray.
Alice Through The Looking Glass has been adapted by Hattie Naylor, from Lewis Carroll’s original story, and reunites members of the creative team behind the critically-acclaimed egg productions of Around the World in 80 Days (2009), The Nutcracker (2008), and the spectacular 2010 Theatre Royal Bath community production of Ben Hur, which earned rave reviews, including a 5 star review from whatsonstage.com!
Featuring new songs, characters and design, the 2010 stage production of Alice Through the Looking Glass appears in the egg theatre from Friday 10 December to Sunday 9 January.
