Production images have been released for the new production of Shakespeare's Richard II at the Sam Wanamaker Playhouse at Shakespeare's Globe.

Featuring in the first-ever company of women of colour in a Shakespeare play on a major UK stage will be Adjoa Andoh in the titular role alongside Dona Croll (Pride and Prejudice), Shobna Gulati (Everybody's Talking About Jamie), Ayesha Dharker (White Teeth), Indra Ové (The Ugly One), Lourdes Faberes (Good Omens), Leila Farzad (Julius Caesar), Sarah Lam (Lucky Man), Sarah Niles (Leave Taking) and Nicholle Cherrie (Leave Taking).

The production is co-directed by Andoh alongside Lynette Linton (Sweat) with design by Rajha Shakiry, Prema Mehta as candles consultant, composition by Dominique Le Gendre, music superversion by Midori Jaegar and fight and movement direction by Yarit Dor.

Shakespeare's history follows the titular king who is challenged for his inadequacy as a leader.
