From chicken wings to arguing with co-stars, we find out a few of Mr Ferns’ favourite things
Alex Ferns, perhaps best known as 'Britain's most hated soap villain' for his role as Trevor in EastEnders, is currently starring in The Father at Trafalgar Studios.
We caught up with him to find out a few of his favourite things.
Film
The Shining is my favourite film because it really pushes the boundary of what actors can get away with on film. You can see that he is not scared of the big emotions that his character experiences, he doesn’t really care and I think that’s amazing.
Place to hang out in London?
At the moment, I have to say my local pub, The Bohemia. Every Wednesday they do wings for half price and they are the best hot wings you will ever buy. Trust me, I’m an expert.
Restaurant? (What would you order?)
I do like a good Steak at The Ivy. The thing about The Ivy, although it is expensive is that it’s not pretentious. It is good wholesome food, its great!
Holiday Destination?
I have to say Cape Town, I used to live there and it is an amazing place to go on holiday. If you ever go there you have to get in a cage and go down with some great white sharks!
Play/Musical that you have seen?
Sam Shepherd’s True West, which I was in at the Tricycle Theatre, is my favourite play of all time.
Actress/Actor?
I would have to say Sean Penn. I really like him, he’s very out there. He’s doing a bit more stuff at the moment but my favourite film of his is Carlito’s Way where he stars opposite Al Pacino. He is brilliant in that film.
Theatre to Visit?
The Wyndhams on Charing Cross Road, it’s a beautiful theatre.
Theatre you’ve performed in?
I have to say Glasgow Citizens Theatre where I performed in True West. Acoustically it’s amazing – you can be as soft as you want and still be heard at the back of the stalls.
Moment in The Father?
That’s a tricky one, having an argument with June Watson (who plays the Nurse) as she’s Scottish as well!
The Father runs at the Trafalgar Studios until 11 April. Click here for more information and to book tickets.
