A Christmas Carol will enjoy its tenth festive season at the Old Vic.
Matthew Warchus’ production, adapted by Jack Thorne, has played to almost half a million people in London over the last decade. It has also been staged in America and Australia, and has been streamed into homes.
Warchus said it was a “great pleasure to be announcing the tenth year of A Christmas Carol.”
He added: “When I approached Jack Thorne a decade ago to adapt this much-loved story, set in the very borough that is home to The Old Vic, I knew that it had the potential to be something special but the international impact it now enjoys could never have been anticipated.”
The artistic director confirmed that the production has raised £2.2million for food deprivation charities, and for many audience members, seeing the show is their first ever trip to the theatre. He concluded: “Year on year, the casts, crews, musicians and creative teams at The Old Vic, and beyond, work passionately to serve this treasured new audience and bring them a show which is as fresh, and full of this great story’s power and joy, as it always has been. Whether you are booking to see this A Christmas Carol for the first time or tenth, we are honoured and excited to deliver another truly unforgettable festive treat.”
