Casting has been announced for the workshop performance of Arun Blair-Mangat's new musical Qu4rter at The Other Palace.

Directed by Charlie Parham, the cast will include Marcus Collins (Kinky Boots), Gabriela Garcia (In The Heights), Lucie Shorthouse (Everybody's Talking About Jamie) and Andy Coxon (Les Miserables). They are joined by Jamal Andreas and Graham Lappin, with further casting to be announced.

Qu4rter tells of a group of LGBTQ+, BAME twenty-somethings who navigate the harsh realities of London life. Blair-Mangat, whose acting credits include Angels in America, In the Heights and Kinky Boots, created Qu4rter in response to the lack of representation of young, queer British people in musical theatre.

The production has musical direction by Matt Nalton, casting by Jacob Sparrow and general management by Michelle Barnette.

Blair-Mangat said: "London is a vibrant melting pot of cultures and we need to start telling narratives that reflect that. My aim is that Qu4rter encourages people to follow their dreams. Sometimes a harsh reality dampens a dream, but now more than ever we need to start showing the world who we are and what we are capable of doing."

The first workshop performance of Qu4rter will take place at The Other Palace at 2pm on 5 June.
