Pearl Mackie, Roger Allam and Haydn Gwynne celebrate opening night at Old Vic's Christmas Carol
Jack Thorne's version of Charles Dickens' book returns to the Old Vic for a second outing
Jack Thorne's stage adaptation of Dickens' A Christmas Carol had its opening night last night, returning to the Old Vic following its world premiere in 2017.
Directed by the venue's artistic director Matthew Warchus, the show stars Stephen Tompkinson as the iconic Ebenezer Scrooge, who has a major spiritual transformation across the festive period.
WhatsOnStage critic Laura Barnett gave the show a full five-star write-up, saying: "It's hard to imagine a more pertinent Christmas tale, delivered with greater atmosphere, theatricality and emotional heft."
Guests including Pearl Mackie, Roger Allam, Jade Anouka and Haydn Gwynne celebrated the show on the night.
