My Top 5 Showtunes: George Sampson
The performer tells us the musical numbers he couldn't live without
George Sampson won the second series of Britain's Got Talent at the age of 14 in 2008 for his street dance routine to a remixed version of "Singing in the Rain". Since 2008 he has performed at T4 on the Beach, made his West End debut in hip-hop musical Into the Hoods and starred in the BBC TV series Waterloo Road.
He is currently starring as Reecey in the touring production of the Madness musical Our House.
We caught up with George and asked him: "If you were stranded on a desert island which five showtunes could you not live without?"
1. "Any Dream Will Do" - from Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat
A song that reminds me of being a kid, as I did a production of Joseph in primary when I was seven, and always loved the musical.
2. "Killer Instinct" from Bring It On
Reminds me of my girlfriend and her favourite musical, Bring It On, puts a smile on my face and I'm dedicating this one to her.
3. "The Internet Is For Porn" from Avenue Q
The inner child in me loves this song and I always feel nostalgically naughty when I hear it! The first musical I saw in the West End too!
4. "Baggy Trousers" from Our House
Dedicated to the production I'm in and the big dance number in which I get to show off a bit, love Madness, love Our House!
5. "Singin' In The Rain" from Singin' In The Rain
A song that made me who I am (albeit remixed) but still a classic that defined me as a performer and brought me the happiest of memories
