Thriller Creator Respects La Diva in New West End Show

The new concert show from the creator of Michael Jackson’s Thriller Live!, which celebrates divas from Diana Ross and Shirley Bassey to Whitney Houston and Beyonce, will transfer to the West End this autumn. Respect La Diva, conceived and directed by Adrian Grant, will have a limited three-week season at the Garrick Theatre from 8 to 24 September 2011 (preview 7 September), before continuing on an extensive UK tour.

Billed as an “uplifting musical celebration paying tribute to some of the greatest female singers of all time”, the show is hosted by X-Factor finalist Andy Abraham and headlined by singers Sheila Ferguson (The Three Degrees), Denise Pearson (Five Star), Katy Setterfield (The One & Only) and West End regular Zoe Birkett (Pop Idol), who are joined by backing singers, dancers and a live band.

Respect La Diva showcases songs by iconic divas including Ross, Bassey, Houston and Beyonce, as well as Tina Turner, Aretha Franklin, Etta James, Mariah Carey, Alicia Keys, Dusty Springfield and others.

In addition to celebrating their music, Respect La Diva aims to highlight the domestic violence famously experienced by many of the featured women. The production supports the charity Refuge, which helps abused women and their children rebuild their lives.

Respect La Diva is designed by Jonathan Park, with lighting by Paul Moorhouse, sound by Phillip Cluskey, and assistant direction/choreography by Racky Plews. It’s produced and directed by Adrian Grant for Baronet Entertainment.
