Nominations open this week for the 19th Annual WhatsOnStage Awards.

On Thursday 1 November the nominations open to the public, allowing audiences to vote for their favourite creatives and shows across the UK over the last year.

The nominations will close on 30 November with the shortlists announced and voting for the winners opening on 5 December and closing on 31 January 2019. The winners will be announced at an awards ceremony on 3 March 2019.

The public votes in 23 categories for their favourite shows and performers. All professional productions that began between December 2017 and November 2018 are eligible in 18 of the 23 categories.

The five exceptions are: Best West End Show which applies to longer-running London productions; and, while non-West End and regional productions are eligible for nomination across all fields, there are also two categories specifically for Best Off-West End Production and Best Regional Production.

Best Show Poster applies to any professional production that began before November 2018 and the award will recognise the original artwork, whilst any professional production, worldwide, which released an original cast recording before November 2018 is eligible for Best Original Cast Recording.

The 19th Annual WhatsOnStage Awards shortlists – covering the best theatre during the 2018 theatre year – will be announced via Facebook Live on 5 December. The awards ceremony will take place at the Prince of Wales Theatre on 3 March 2019 where theatregoers will also get to enjoy a host of performances from top West End talent.
