Mr Benn to Entertain Newcastle
To celebrate the 40th anniversary of the much-loved television series, Mr Benn, the creators of The Gruffalo and Room on the Broom stage shows present this brand new live production, based on the classic character written and illustrated by David McKee.
Mr Benn, an ordinary man who lives in an ordinary street, gets a surprise when an envelope lands with a thud on his doormat. It’s an invitation. To a fancy dress party! Mr Benn sets off to look for a costume and finds himself drawn to a small shop he’s never noticed before. Inside there’s a spaceman costume, a diver, a wizard, a chef, a knight – and many more. As if by magic, the shopkeeper appears and shows Mr Benn into the changing room. But this is no ordinary changing room – it contains a special door that leads to adventures.
