Among this week's major London theatre openings, in the West End and further afield, are the Russian-language production of Uncle Vanya, Tommy Steele in Scrooge the Musical, the National Theatre's People, and more:

Opening Monday

This satire by Nathaniel Martello-White, directed by Young Vic artistic director David Lan, exposes the highs and lows of making it as a black actor. It runs at the Young Vic until 24 November.

Uncle Vanya

The second production of Uncle Vanya running in the West End at the moment, here Russia’s award-winning theatre company Vakhtangov brings its Russian-language production to London. It runs at the Noel Coward Theatre until 10 November.

The Pilgrim's Progress

Vaughan Williams' response to one of the best-loved adventure stories in the English language, Pilgrim's Progress comes to the London Coliseum for the ENO's first ever staging of the 1951 opera. It runs until 28 November.

Scrooge - the Musical

Tommy Steele returns to the London Palladium to play the title role in Scrooge - the Musical, based on Dickens' A Christmas Carol. It runs at the London Palladium until 5 January 2013.

Forests is a new Shakespearean odyssey imagined by one of Europe’s most prominent theatre directors, Calixto Bieito. Composed from original verse from Shakespeare’s woodland and heath scenes, it runs at the Barbican Theatre until 10 November.

All That Fall

After a sell-out run at the Jermyn Street Theatre, All That Fall starring Eileen Atkins and Michael Gambon transfers to the Arts Theatre. Written by Samuel Beckett and directed by Trevor Nunn, it runs until 24 November.

A new play by Alan Bennett, People stars Francis de la Tour, Selina Caddell and Linda Bassett. It runs at the NT Lyttelton until 2 April.

Our House
11 November 2012

Our House is marking its tenth anniversary with a gala concert in aid of Help for Heroes. Featuring the songs of Madness, it stars Suggs and sees the return of many of the original cast. It runs for one night only at the Savoy Theatre.
