“Leave your preconceptions at home,” begins one London critic’s assessment of sensual singer-songwriter Sarah Jane Morris, who straddles rock, blues, jazz and soul with a goosebump-raising four octave range that rumbles from the heels of her size eight shoes to the tips of her flame-red mane. British soul, jazz and r&b singer who topped the UK pop charts for a month in 1986, Sarah-Jane returns to Crazy Coqs with original songs, from her forthcoming project, telling the life stories of the women that have inspired her – Bessie Smith, Billie Holliday, Nina Simone, Janis Joplin, Joni Mitchell, Rickie Lee Jones, Aretha Franklyn, Sinead O’Connor, Kate Bush and Amy Winehouse. Her plan is to turn this into a one woman show, documentary and radio series. She will be premiering this at The London Jazz Festival at Crazy Coqs on November 16th.
