In this feature-length podcast, Edward Seckerson talks to John Fulljames about his forthcoming staging of Janacek’s The Adventures of Mr Broucek for Opera North.

The fun and eccentric opera follows the beer fuelled advertures of Mr Broucek, as he journeys to the moon and back in time to a terrifying 15th century Czech battle. His expeditions make him a kind of operatic Mr Benn, although his advertures always seem to start and end in a beer barrel!

John Graham-Hall stars and Martin Andre conducts this co-production with Scottish Opera, which is on tour from October 2009 (for more info see www.operanorth.co.uk)
