The former ”Shameless” features in this verbatim piece at the Unity later this month.
A new play set in 1940's Liverpool featuring racism and betrayal is coming the Unity later this month.
The Curious Disappearance of Mister Foo focuses on the effect a forced repatriation of Chinese seamen from Liverpool in 1946 had on families and friends of the men, who were rounded up by the UK government over a 2-day period and immediately deported, unbeknownst to their loved ones.
Details of the repatriation only came to light when an official report was released 50 years later.
Featuring verbatim dialogue and characters based on real people, Tina Malone, best known for her role as Mimi in Shameless, plays the lead part, with actor Simon Wan playing Mr Foo, the Chinese man she falls in love with who then disappears.
Malone also played the role of Mo McGee on Brookside and a nurse called Bobbie on Victoria Wood's dinnerladies. She currently has her own production company, Elegance Productions.
The Curious Disappearance of Mister Foo is at the Liverpool Unity on 21 June.
