The stage adaptation of the Dreamworks 1998 animated film The Prince of Egypt will open at the Dominion Theatre in the West End next year.

Based on the story of Moses in Egypt, the film originally starred Val Kilmer as Moses alongside Ralph Fiennes as Rameses.

The stage show will feature 10 new numbers written by Stephen Schwartz (Wicked), alongside classic tunes such as the Academy Award-winning "When You Believe" and "Deliver Us". It has music and lyrics by Schwartz and a book by Philip LaZebnik (Mulan and Pocahontas), and will be directed by Scott Schwartz (The Hunchback of Notre Dame) and choreographed by Sean Cheesman (So You Think You Can Dance).

Casting and full creative team are to be announced.

The piece will run for a 32-week engagement from 5 February 2020 to 12 September 2020, with tickets on sale on Monday 3 June.

The Prince of Egypt previously ran at TheatreWorks in California, where it picked up the 2019 Regional Theatre Tony Award, and ran in Denmark last year.
