Tamara Harvey makes Theatr Clwyd directorial debut

Recently appointed artistic director Tamara Harvey will make her directorial debut at Theatr Clwyd in June with Shakespeare's comedy Much Ado About Nothing.

The production will be Theatr Clwyd's 400th show and marks the first time the play has ever been staged at the theatre.

Harvey said today, "I am so thrilled to announce my directorial debut for June of this year, having watched with pride from the sidelines as Robert Hastie – and now Lisa Spirling and Phillip Breen – create such beautiful work on our stages whilst I’ve been having a baby.

"Clwyd has never staged a production of Much Ado About Nothing before and so it seems fitting that in the 400th anniversary year of Shakespeare’s death we should be presenting, for our 400th production, one of his most popular comedies as we begin our own 40th birthday celebrations as a company."

Before joining Theatr Clwyd, Harvey's directing credits included Pride and Prejudice (Sheffield Crucible), Breeders (St James Theatre) and From Here to Eternity (West End). She was associate director of the Bush Theatre in 2010-11, and also sits on the board of the National Student Drama Festival.

Much Ado About Nothing runs at Theatr Clwyd from 14 June to 2 July.
