Summer nights just got hotter! Prepare to dust off your leather jacket and take a trip back to the flirty fifties for the West End spectacular Grease coming to Newcastle Theatre Royal this Summer and starring alternately Mary Byrne and Russell Grant as ‘Teen Angel’! It’s the one that you want…Tue 3 to Sat 14 July!

Voted the no.1 greatest musical of all time*, the power of Grease will never wane. Following its electrifyin’ 4 year London run, and back again on tour due to popular demand, it’s visiting Newcastle with celebrity guests Mary and Russell playing Teen Angel in support of West End stars Danny Bayne (Danny) and Carina Gillespie (Sandy).

Mary Byrne rocketed to fame in 2010 after becoming a finalist in the seventh series of the X Factor. Following her elimination in the semi-final, she signed a record deal with Sony Music Ireland and her debut single was released in 2011. It spent 2 weeks at the number one spot and has since spent eight weeks in the top five of the Irish music charts. Her Second album ‘…with Love’ released earlier this year was also a top 10 hit in the music charts. Russell Grant found international fame through becoming the Astrologer Royal but before Her Majesty, the late Queen Mother patronised him he had a successful career in theatre, television and film. He captured the attention of the nation as an unlikely contender in the BBC’s 2011 series of Strictly Come Dancing and has just completed a very successful season as The Wizard in The Wizard of Oz in Andrew Lloyd Webber’s production at the London Palladium. The two will alternate the cameo role of ‘Teen Angel’ in the show – Mary playing the first week and Russell the second.

Grease appears for a two week run at Newcastle Theatre Royal from 3 – 14 July 2012. Tickets are £12.00 – £36.50 and can be purchased from the Theatre Royal Box Office on 08448 11 21 21 or select your own seat and book online.
